1 onion, 1 carrot, 400 g can tomatoes, 1 tbsp tomato puree, 2 cloves garlic, 1 tbsp grated ginger, 1 tbsp curry powder
  • Add the minced beef and break it up with a spoon or spatula. Stir the meat into the vegetables until well mixed.
    500 g beef mince
  • Cook on high for 4 hours, or low for 7-8 hours.
  • Stir in the frozen peas and cook for a further 10 minutes.
    100 g frozen peas

Notes

  • I cooked the slow cooker curried mince for 4 hours on high, and there was no need to add extra liquid as there was enough in the tomatoes, beef and vegetables. If you feel the curry is too dry, you can add 100ml of beef stock.
  • To add extra fibre to the curried mince and make the recipe stretch further, add a drained can of lentils or white beans. The adjusted recipe will serve 6.
  • You'll probably find there's enough salt in the curry powder or paste, but you can add extra seasoning if preferred.
  • You can store leftover beef keema in the fridge for up to 3 days
  • The recipe also freezes well. Freeze in airtight container and defrost overnight in the fridge. Reheat until piping hot.
