Equipment

  • 20 x 20 cm baking tin
  • baking paper
  • saucepan

Ingredients

  • 100 g butter
  • 200 g porridge oats
  • 90 ml maple syrup (or 6 tablespoons)

Instructions

  • Place a piece of greased baking paper in the base of a 20 x 20 cm square baking tray. Leave a slight overhang of paper on 2 opposite sides so that you can use the paper to remove the cooked flapjacks.
  • Preheat the oven to 160 degrees (140 fan)
  • Melt the butter in a saucepan over a low heat.
  • Add the maple syrup and oats and stir well until thoroughly mixed.
  • Spoon the mixture into the lined baking tin. Press down well with the back of a spoon. Make sure you press into the corners and over the whole surface.
  • Bake for 20 minutes. Leave to cool in the tin, then cut into 12 pieces.

Notes

For vegan maple syrup flapjacks, use vegan butter.
You can also add dried fruit or nuts if you like. Roughly chop 50 g of nuts - pecans go really well with maple syrup.
