Honey Lemonade (No Refined Sugar)

This refreshing honey lemonade recipe is naturally sweetened with honey instead of refined sugar, giving it a delicious, fresh flavour which is perfect on warm days. With just a few simple ingredients, this homemade lemonade with no sugar syrup is quick to prepare, thirst-quenching and a healthier alternative to many shop bought soft drinks.

4 lemons 60 ml runny honey 1 litre water Optional 1 pinch salt lemon slices and ice to serve
Roll the lemons on the worktop to make them easier to squeeze.
Halve the lemons and squeeze the juice. Strain out any pips or flesh as you pour the juice into a jug or bowl.

Add the honey and 200ml of water. Blitz with an immersion blender until the honey is mixed in.
60 ml runny honey, 1 pinch salt
Top up with the remaining 800ml water.
1 litre water
Serve with ice and a slice.

Always use fresh lemons not bottled juice.
If you'd prefer not to use an immersion blender, use a whisk or shake the lemonade in a lidded jar.
Runny honey is preferable. If you've only got set honey, you may need to warm the mixture on the stove to get it to dissolve.
If you want sparkling honey lemonade, top up with 800ml of sparkling water in place of still water.
For a healthy vegan lemonade, use maple syrup or agave syrup.
